Archiving Policy

The Pakistan Journal of Clinical Research (PJCR) is dedicated to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content, employing internationally recognized digital archiving systems and multiple secure storage solutions to safeguard scholarly research. PJCR utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archive across a global network of libraries, ensuring that published work remains secure, accessible, and retrievable in cases of data loss or journal discontinuation. In addition, PJCR participates in the CLOCKSS initiative, a community-governed digital preservation network that safeguards journal content and provides controlled open access to archived materials in the event that the journal becomes inactive or unavailable. The journal also integrates with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), an automated archiving service within Open Journal Systems (OJS), enhancing global discoverability and compliance with open-access standards. Each article receives a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through CrossRef, ensuring persistent linking, reliable citation, and continued access regardless of website changes. To provide additional security, PJCR maintains regular backups in institutional repositories and cloud-based storage systems, protecting against accidental loss, server failures, or cyber threats. Supporting open-access dissemination, PJCR permits authors to self-archive preprints on non-commercial platforms with attribution, deposit accepted manuscripts in personal or institutional repositories with citation to the final version, and retain published PDFs for personal use without commercial redistribution. Through these comprehensive archiving strategies, PJCR ensures that all published research remains permanently accessible, discoverable, and preserved for future generations of researchers and healthcare professionals.
