Use of AI Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

The Pakistan Journal of Clinical Research (PJCR) follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in scholarly publishing.

Authors may use AI tools for language editing, grammar correction, translation, or other appropriate purposes, but they remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of their manuscript. AI tools, including ChatGPT and other large language models, must not be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authors must disclose the use of AI or AI-assisted technologies at submission and state the tool used and its purpose. If AI is used for research activities such as data analysis, statistical processing, image or figure generation, or other substantive research functions, its use must be appropriately described in the Methods section.

Authors must verify all AI-generated content, references, citations, and factual information and ensure that AI use does not result in plagiarism, fabrication, or other forms of misconduct.

Peer reviewers and editors must maintain manuscript confidentiality and must not upload or disclose confidential manuscript content to AI systems where confidentiality cannot be assured. Human reviewers and editors remain responsible for their assessments and editorial decisions.

Undisclosed or inappropriate AI use may result in editorial action, including rejection, correction, withdrawal, or retraction, where appropriate.
